POM, polyoxymethylene

Polyoxymethylene also known as polyacteal is hard and rigid but also shockproof plastic which was invented in the 1960's. The most used type is POM-C which has low coefficient of friction and it is more resistant to consumption than most plastics. That's why POM is used in some machine parts to replace the metal.
