Tissue bakelite is made by laminating thin layers of cotton fiber with resins, after which the piece is pressed into shape under pressure. The use of bakelites is based on their good insulating properties and very low thermal expansion. Tissue bakelites are mainly used in mechanical applications requiring wear resistance and hardness.
